What is Mewler?
Mewler is a modular lending protocol based on Euler V2. It enables permissionless vault creation, isolated risk management, and flexible interest rate models.
How is Mewler different from Euler V2?
Mewler is a deployment of Euler V2 and maintains compatibility with the core architecture. The main differences are in deployment, configuration, and any customizations made by the Mewler team.
Is Mewler audited?
Mewler utilizes Euler V2’s audited codebase. For specific audit information, check the Audits section.
Vault Questions
What is a vault?
A vault is an isolated lending market for a single ERC-20 token. Each vault operates independently with its own parameters.
Can I create my own vault?
Mew…yes! Anyone can deploy vaults using the Mewler Vault Kit. See the Vault Creation Guide.
What’s the difference between borrowable and collateral-only vaults?
- Borrowable: Users can deposit, earn interest, and borrow the underlying asset
- Collateral-only: Users can deposit and earn interest, but the asset cannot be borrowed (only used as collateral in other vaults)
How do vault shares work?
When you deposit assets, you receive vault shares (eTokens). As interest accrues, the share price increases. When you withdraw, shares are redeemed at the current share price.
Interest Rates
How are interest rates determined?
Each vault has an Interest Rate Model (IRM) that calculates rates based on utilization (how much of the vault is borrowed).
Do rates change?
Yes, rates adjust dynamically based on utilization. Higher utilization typically means higher borrowing rates and higher supply rates.
Can I get a fixed rate?
Mewler uses variable rates that adjust with utilization. For fixed rates, you may need to use other protocols or products.
Borrowing and Lending
How much can I borrow?
Your borrowing capacity depends on:
- The value of your collateral
- The collateral factor of the vault
- Your current debt
Maximum borrow = Collateral Value × Collateral Factor
What is a health score?
Health score measures how close your position is to liquidation:
- Health Score = Total Collateral Value / Total Debt Value
- Health Score > 1.0: Safe
- Health Score < 1.0: Can be liquidated
How do I avoid liquidation?
- Monitor your health score regularly
- Maintain a buffer (health score > 1.5 recommended)
- Add collateral or repay debt if health score drops
- Understand how price movements affect your position
EVC and Sub-Accounts
What is the EVC?
The Ethereum Vault Connector enables batching operations, sub-accounts, and deferred checks. See the EVC Guide.
What are sub-accounts?
Sub-accounts are virtual accounts (up to 256 per wallet) that allow you to isolate positions and strategies.
Why would I use sub-accounts?
- Isolate different trading strategies
- Separate risky positions from conservative ones
- Test strategies without affecting main positions
- Better risk management
What are operators?
Operators are addresses you trust to execute transactions on your behalf, enabling automation and bot trading.
Liquidations
When can I be liquidated?
Your position can be liquidated when your health score drops below 1.0.
Who can liquidate me?
Anyone can act as a liquidator. Liquidators are incentivized by receiving a discount on the collateral they seize.
What happens during liquidation?
A liquidator repays your debt and receives your collateral (plus a discount). Your position is reduced or closed.
Can I prevent liquidation?
Yes, by:
- Adding collateral
- Repaying debt
- Closing your position
- Monitoring and acting before health score drops too low
Technical Questions
Which oracles does Mewler use?
Mewler supports multiple oracle adapters including Pyth Network and Chainlink. Each vault can be configured with different oracles.
What happens if an oracle fails?
Oracle failures can affect vault operations. Vaults may pause operations if oracles become stale or unavailable. Always monitor oracle health.
Are vaults upgradeable?
It depends on how the vault was deployed. Some vaults are immutable, while others may be upgradeable by governance.
How do I integrate Mewler into my application?
See the Developer Guide for integration instructions and code examples.
Risk Questions
What are the main risks?
- Liquidation Risk: Positions can be liquidated if health score drops
- Smart Contract Risk: Bugs or exploits could result in losses
- Oracle Risk: Oracle failures or manipulation
- Interest Rate Risk: Rates can change
- Collateral Risk: Collateral value can decrease
How do I manage risk?
- Monitor positions regularly
- Maintain healthy buffers
- Diversify across vaults
- Understand the risks before participating
- Start with small amounts
Is my money safe?
No protocol is 100% safe. Mewler is based on audited code, but all DeFi involves risk. Only risk what you can afford to lose.
